What Is IROL?
IROL stands for Inspection Reports Online. It’s a third-party reporting platform now required by the City of Lakeland Fire Inspection Department for specific fire protection systems. Starting in 2025, fire protection companies like Borem Fire must report inspection results and deficiencies directly to the IROL system.
Which Systems Are Affected?
The IROL system is required for the following services within Lakeland city limits:
- Kitchen hood fire suppression systems
- Fire sprinkler systems
- Fire alarm systems
Not included:
- Fire extinguishers
- Emergency/exit lights
Why the $45 Fee?
This fee reflects the charges imposed by the city as well as the time our team invests to submit each IROL report accurately and maintain your compliance records.
You’ll see a $45 charge per service, per location on your invoice.
Good news: If you have two systems of the same type (e.g. two hood systems) at the same location and we service them together, it’s just one fee — not per system.
How Does This Affect You?
The biggest impact is timing:
Deficiencies will now be visible to city inspectors immediately. This means the city may follow up faster and more firmly on unresolved issues than in the past. Borem Fire will continue to guide you through compliance and help you stay ahead of any deadlines or repairs to avoid fines or violations.

What About Other Cities?
Many Florida municipalities now use third-party compliance portals to track fire inspections and code violations. In addition to IROL (used by the City of Lakeland), we also report through:
- The Compliance Engine/Brycer
- Other electronic AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) systems as required by local fire departments
Each city or county sets its own rules, and we stay on top of them so you don’t have to. If you manage multiple locations across Polk County or beyond, our team will make sure each one stays in compliance with the right system, timelines, and local codes.
We’ve Got You Covered
We know local codes. We’ve been keeping Polk County businesses safe and compliant for years. This new system is just one more way we help you stay ahead of the game — and out of trouble.
