What Is IROL? City of Lakeland Fire Inspection Reporting
IROL stands for Inspection Reports Online. It’s a third-party reporting platform that was required by the City of Lakeland Fire Inspection Department for specific fire protection systems. From 2025 – July 2026, fire protection companies like Borem Fire were required to report inspection results and deficiencies directly to the IROL system.
Which Systems Are Affected?
The IROL system was required for the following services within Lakeland city limits:
- Kitchen hood fire suppression systems
- Fire sprinkler systems
- Fire alarm systems
Not included:
- Fire extinguishers
- Emergency/exit lights
How Did IROL Affect You?
The biggest impact was timing. Deficiencies were visible to city inspectors immediately. This meant that the city could follow up faster and more firmly on unresolved issues than in the past. Borem Fire will continue to guide you through compliance and help you stay ahead of any deadlines or repairs to avoid fines or violations.
Why was IROL discontinued?
The City of Lakeland elected to discontinue the IROL reporting program. We continue to follow all current reporting requirements established by the local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and will adapt our procedures whenever those requirements change.
What About Other Cities?
Many Florida municipalities still commonly use third-party compliance portals to track fire inspections and code violations. While the City of Lakeland has discontinued use of IROL, we continue to also report through:
- The Compliance Engine/Brycer
- Other electronic AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) systems as required by local fire departments
